Bio:
I am an Associate Outreach Specialist and Project Director with Family Living Programs for the University of Wisconsin-Extension. As a specialist, I concentrate on improving food access for SNAP users through research on barriers to EBT use at Wisconsin farmers' markets. As a project director, I oversee budget, staff, data collection and management of an AFRI grant focused on mitigating rural childhood obesity through the support and capacity building of community-based health coalitions. In both positions, I work collaboratively with other Extension professionals (both in-state and out-of-state), government organizations and officials, nonprofit organizations/NGOs, and other community stakeholders to identify appropriate responses to community needs. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of my positions, I ground my work in Public Health (policy, systems, and environmental change), Civil Society and Community Studies (community organizing, social capital), Human Ecology (socio-ecological framework), and Community Development (capitals framework, community capacity, and asset-based development).
