What I am working on:

What I am working on:
Since retirement, I've started back through travel journals and email to capture and write about the dozen years when I spent part of each summer doing research with students in Nicaragua (with the occasional additional trip to Africa). I am also consulting with, conducting workshops for, and collecting stories from Christian organizations engaged in community organization and development in urban and rural settings. In 2021, due to the pandemic I conducted a video walking tour of several Portland Oregon neighborhoods to point out their intersecting histories, the lasting legacy of racial and ethnic tension and discrimination, and the dynamic process of urban transformations -- the underlying theme was related to feedback loops of "Wicked Problems" and the importance of Systems Thinking rather than less complex problem-"solving" methodologies. We also videotaped a workshop on experience-based learning that focused on the importance of observation and conversational interview.
