CDS 2018 Awards & Scholarships

It’s that time again! CDS Scholarships and Awards are back. It’s time for you to encourage students and members alike to apply for this year’s CDS scholarships.

Awards Summary and Eligibility Criteria

This is your opportunity to nominate peers. colleagues, students and mentors to be recognized for their contributions to the community development field. Awards will be presented at the 2018 CDS Annual Conference in Detroit, Michigan, July 22-25, 2018.

CDS awards recognize new and experienced community devlopment proactitioners, researchers, students and supporters as we celebrate the outstanding and innovative leaders in our field. Award include honors for research, programming , acheivement, service to the profession and community development education. 

The award process this makes it easier for you to nominate someone with key background information. Following the nomination period, the Committee will work with the nominees to gather addtional supporting documentation. Key dates in the new timeline are as follows:

February 14

Nominations are due: all nominations received after the deadline will be automatically elligible in the next round of awards.

April 1

Support documentation is due from the nominees,

Early May

Winners are notified.

July 22 - 25

Awards presented at the 2018 CDS conference in Detroit, Michigan.

CDS Awards History

The CDS Awards were established in 1984 to recognize the outstanding and innovative achievements of our members and friends. Their work, programs and research advances the field of community development and reflects the CDS Principles of Good Practice. Each year up to nine awards, listed below, are presented during the Annual International Conference held in July.
