CD CASES

Community Development: Journal of the Community Development Society is pleased to include the CD Cases section in the journal. One to three applied case studies will be presented in each CD Cases offering. The purpose of this section is to provide a venue for publishing peer reviewed case study research that provides useful information for community development researchers and practitioners and insights into applied community development work.

To submit a manuscript for consideration in CD Cases, visit http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/rcod . All manuscripts must be formatted in accordance with American Psychological Style (APA) guidelines and to specifications listed on the website. Note that manuscripts must not be longer than 25 pages, double-spaced.

A case study involves in-depth research and understanding on a given or chosen subject matter. A typical manuscript would include these components: introduction, literature review, methodology, study, analysis, conclusions and recommendations, and references. The journal does not accept manuscripts that are purely descriptive – the research must be generalizable and provide relevant insight/implications/findings for the field of community development. The case study methodology must be fully explained and supporting literature must be presented. The journal does not usually accept economic impact studies unless new methodologies are utilized. Note that all manuscripts for CD Cases will be peer reviewed.

Submission Requirements

The manuscript should be formatted to 8 1/2” by 11,” no longer than 25 pages. Double space all material, including indented passages, footnotes, and references. Use ragged right margins without hyphens. Please delete all identifying names/institutions when submitting online, this allows a blind peer review.
Abstract. Prepare a summary abstract of 100 to 150 words. Allentrack will prompt you for the abstract to be entered during the online submission process.
Keywords. Authors must supply from three (3) to five (5) alphabetized keywords or phrases that identify the most important subjects covered by the paper.
Endnotes. Use notes in the text sparingly for substantive comments only, not for bibliographic references. Notes should be numbered consecutively on a separate page following the text.
Tables and Figures. Append tables and figures on separate pages at the end of the manuscript. The format of tables should be consistent with tables published in recent issues. Include location notes, e.g., “Table 1 about here,” “Fig. 1 near here,” at appropriate places within the text. Tables and figures must be included in the electronic file, sized to fit within the Journal’s 7” by 10” page format. Please check with the editorial office about submitting figures in alternative formats.
References in the Text. References in the body of the text should include the name of the author(s) cited and date of reference in parentheses within the manuscript, e.g., (Walzer, 2006). Do not use ibid., op. cit., loc. cit., etc. If reference is a direct quote, include page number, e.g., (Walzer, 2006, p. 3). For repeat citations, continue to use name of author(s) and date. In case of multiple works with the same author(s) and publication year, use “1991a,” “1991b,” etc.
References at End of Article. Complete data on all references should follow standard APA (American Psychological Association) Research Style Crib Sheet guidelines (http://www.psywww.com/resource/APA%20Research%20Style%20Crib%20Sheet.htm#Examples). At the end of your article, list all references alphabetically, including page numbers, volume and issue numbers of journals, and all authors’ names. Format for articles, books, and articles in books is as follows:
